We integrate systems using OIC and it works great.
  • Time to market is very quick with OIC.
  • Less admin work is needed since it is autonomous.
  • The provisioning of OIC is really fast.
  • We need to have the capabilities for B2B integrations.
  • Development UI could have faster response times for developers.
  • Need capabilities for parallel processing and also should give users the ability to control threads.
OIC is well suited for cloud app integrations and can build integrations at least 30% faster than Fusion middleware products.

  • OIC eliminates the need to have a big dedicated admin team.
  • The creation of cloud connectors is really quick using OIC.
Oracle has more SAS offerings than any other vendor and a higher number of clients are going towards Oracle SAS offering. In order to integrate SAS with other systems, OIC comes up with pre-built cloud adapters which make the turn around time faster than any other tool.

OIC is a newly procured tool within our department and is gaining popularity in various departments. It is used in building integration layers to reduce turn around time of the development process and the overall SDLC.
  • Quick implementation.
  • Publicly available connectors.
  • Multi-faceted.
  • Needs infrastructure set-up.
  • GUI needs more evolution.
  • Migration tools are missing.
It is well suited for building integrations with products such as PeopleSoft.

  • We are still just getting started, and our ROI has already been very positive.
Since we have Oracle DB and numerous other Oracle products, OIC seemed an ideal fit.

Integrating within systems. We have to integrate it into our solution in order to have the businesses that we help use it to the maximum capacity. I work with Accenture, so we are in the technology management space. On projects, I work with solution architects or in project management within tech teams. For this, I use OIC every day.
  • Ease of implementation - this saves me and my team time and resources. You can do projects faster and with less constraints.
  • Strength of the system - It is robust. The ability to inform set integrations well and efficiently is a benefit.
  • Long lag times - it's a really big system that can be clunky sometimes. It doesn't go as fast as you want it to.
  • Inefficient processing - hand in hand with lag times. It's slow and can seem outdated at times.
  • Outdated UI - could use a better, more intuitive interface.
In order to achieve a scalable business solution. This is well suited for big companies with big teams who have a need to harness data. I don't think a company just starting out should use this - it's too expensive and you may not have enough data to input.

  • Created a solution for unique business integration with minimal processing times
  • Saves my team about 7 hours per week because of how it communicates with all the information. Because it communicates faster, and because there's a lot of information to communicate with, another solution might not work.
Great for data storage and maintenance

OIC is being used as a replacement for our enterprise integration bus. It manages data flow between our on-premise applications and ten cloud software vendors into our data warehouse. We are currently in planning for OIC to be the external interface to pure public data feeds as well. OIC provides our organization with a data flow management platform that is scalable and robust enough for our needs with a lower learning curve than other comparable integration packages.
  • Easy to learn and develop basic integrations.
  • Built-in connectors for our existing suite of Oracle ERP implementations.
  • Allows for our organization to have a robust environment that handles failover without the need to engineer and support a full SOA implementation.
  • OIC documentation can sometimes be difficult to follow and not explain all the necessary steps in order to set up some of the more complicated integrations.
  • The management interface could use some improvement, it does not recalculate statistics based on its retention period
  • Scheduled integrations are limited to a 10-minute frequency.
As a cloud-first organization, we contract with numerous providers that require we ingest data feeds 24x7. OIC allows us to quickly develop new feeds quickly and efficiently. We make extensive use of CSV and SFTP data feeds to load data from cloud-based call centers and on-premise applications into our data warehouse in order to provide up to date data-driven decision making.

  • In being able to rapidly develop integrations we have been able to discontinue expensive outsourcing contracts.
  • The secure first approach of OIC has allowed us to develop with security in mind.
OIC has allowed us to decommission our Tibco environment and migrate from outsourced integration development to in house where costs are lower and time to development has increased in some cases from months to days or weeks.

Oracle Integration Cloud is now known as Oracle Integration Cloud Service (OICS). The journey began in 2016 with Integration Cloud Service (ICS) and after 2 years Oracle changed its name to Oracle Integration Cloud. Almost Immediately they again renamed as Autonomous Integration Cloud and now it is back to Oracle Integration Cloud Service (OICS). I was part of this journey since inception and have seen all ups and down of this product. If I would have written this review 1 year or 1.5 years back, my rating would have been lower. OICS has matured and added lots of new functionality which reduces overall implementation time to a great extent. I implement OICS for other customers and I can confidently write that this tool is perfect for an integration requirement whether you want to integrate Oracle to Oracle or non-Oracle to Oracle or non-Oracle to non-Oracle products.
  • New enhanced activities that are targeted to reduce the integration pain. For example, file stage activity reduces the pain of chunking the input file while sending and mapping the data to the target application. Stage activity takes care of it automatically for the customer. Similarly, recommendation on the mapper is a huge plus for people looking for common integration.
  • There are around 50 adapters available including dedicated out of the box application adapters and generic technologies adapters on OICS. The best part of these application adapters is that they are designed considering LOB users. Most of the time integration implementor does not require, application knowledge to perform the integration. OICS has some of Oracle Cloud applications adapters which make integration much easier may not be available in other integration platforms.
  • Inbuilt diagnostic dashboard and error hospital makes this product lucrative. OICS also comes with integrated Process Cloud and Visual Builder at the same cost. the customer can have seamless integration with Apiary and SSI on demand.
  • OICS does not support EDI integration yet. That customer could buy a SOACS subscription, which is quite expensive. But this feature is in the roadmap and may show in the near future.
  • This is not for the super complex integration or huge volume transactions
For all type of integration except those with a huge volume. It can deal with 20MB of transactions and processing of 1GB file when a file is being read using file or FTP adapters. It cannot be used for EDI as this support is not there. OICS is a perfect fit for other integration and is best when a customer has Oracle applications in the landscape. It is even greater if you have a requirement to create a custom form and make use of Process Cloud. All of these work very well together seamlessly. API needs can be handled by APIary.

  • We run big integration practices and that practice is pretty successful. We have seen the customer getting quick ROI as the initial investment is not much. The customer can also get a free 1-month trial instance of OICS to try out. All of our customers are happy with this investment so far.

Yes, most of the time
Oracle came onto the call to understand the issue and thought it was sort of an enhancement, but still, they took this and released that feature within 2 weeks.
